PRECISION AND POWER: MAZDA SPORTS CARS ARE A PERFORMANCE ENTHUSIAST’S DREAM
Are you looking for a vehicle that has both precision and power? Look no further! Ingram Park Mazda has the perfect car for you. There are two Mazda sports cars that any performance enthusiast would love. Both the 5-X Miata and the 5-X Miata RF are great choices.
The hardest part is choosing whether the 5-X Miata or the 5-X Miata RF is the right sports car for you! Both feature a powerful drive, sleek lines, and excellent handling, but there are a few differences between the two. Let’s take a closer look at each option to help you figure out which one is the right Mazda sports car for you to take home.
MAZDA MX-5 MIATA
If you want all the thrills and joys that every performance enthusiast is looking for in a sports car, the Mazda MX-5 Miata will give them to you. It’s a beloved car for that reason. At high and low speeds, it has a respectably smooth ride, and even at slower speeds, it’s still fun and engaging to drive. Its 181 horsepower may seem modest, but it easily drives curvy roads thanks to its rear-wheel-drive, athletic handling, and precise steering capabilities.
These cars have a manual cloth soft top that is easy to raise or lower, which happens quickly, too. Another plus of this car is that it’s one of the most fuel-efficient sports cars on the market.
The MX-5 Miata only has two seats, and there is not much room to stretch out on the inside of the car. The truck is also on the smaller side, so be prepared to travel lightly.
There are three trim levels available for the Mazda MX-5 Miata. They are Sport, Club, and Grand Touring trims. All three have a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that drives the rear wheels. They also all have a standard six-speed manual transmission. The Grand Touring trim does have an additional option of a six-speed automatic as well.
MAZDA MX-5 MIATA RF
If you love the Mazda MX-5 Miata but are looking for something just a little grander, then you should consider the Mazda MX-5 Miata RF. What makes it different than the original Miata MX-5? It is because of the “RF,” which stands for “Retractable Fastback.” This means that it has a hardtop, or a metal roof, that can retract into the rear of the car whenever you want. Because of this, it does come at a higher price than the Miata.
The Mazda MX-5 Miata RF is still on the smaller side so the retractable hardtop may have you wondering if it will take room away from the space in its trunk. That is not the case with the Miata RF, however. The power-folding roof has no effect on the trunk space. It’s important to note that the trunk still is not on the large side.
These sports cars also have sublime handling and are just as fun to drive as the soft top, which is not something you can always find with hardtops. Plus, with a metal top, the Miata RF offers the same kind of security that a fixed-roof coupe car does, making it even safer to drive. When the top is up, you may even mistake it for a fast coupe!
There are two trim levels available for the Mazda MX-5 Miata RF: the Club and Grand Touring trims. Both trims have a power-folding roof that works fast, taking only 13 seconds to open. Additionally, both have a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and are rear-wheel-drives. Both trims have a standard six-speed manual transmission. The Grand Touring trim does offer the option for a six-speed automatic with paddle shifters. Out of the two trims, the more expensive option is the Club.
WHAT ARE THE MAJOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE TWO?
Have you fallen in love with the Miata yet? Both of Mazda’s sports cars promise a fun and stylish ride. The major differences between the two are the trim level options, the roof styles, and the MSRP. Each trim option has a different MSRP, but the Mazda MX-5 Miata RF is the more expensive of the two in general.
Another difference to note is that because of the metal roof on the Miata RF, even when the roof retracts into the rear of the car, there are metal pillars that stay upright. This is not the case with the 5-X Miata, as the soft top fully folds in and hides itself without any pillars. This gives this model a true topless convertible look.
Overall, the Mazda 5-X Miata and the Mazda 5-X Miata RF have the same universal features and the same underpinnings. Making the decision of which one is for you depends on whether you want a hard or soft top, if there’s a specific trim you want, and how much you want to spend. Both are excellent options for any performance enthusiast. You can check out the specs for a little more information on each model.
Seeing both cars in person can also help you make your decision. Better yet, come in for a test drive at Ingram Park Mazda and drive them for yourself.
